Don,
Espar and Wabasso are the two best choices in diesel heaters that I am aware of. Espar has the better reputation for boats. Lots of good info on their web sites. D4 units are the most popular. The air to air units have the advantage of low battery draw. The coolant heating units draw more amps so you run the risk of draining your batteries. I am just in the process of installing an Espar D2 in my 20' Muskwa. I bought the complete kit from Outlaw in Red Deer. They can also do the install for you.
The problem I see with the diesel fired built in "on demand" hot water heaters for boats is that they are not small or light or cheap.
I plan to use the Coleman propane fired unit. Rigged up on the swim grid or the drop bow.
Maybe others with experience will comment as well. |

Don,
Albright refrigeration in GP sells Espar heaters and I think the sell Webasto's too. Good portable shower is the Zodi brand direct fired propane shower units. Works excellent for washing off the mud bugs. My kids insist that the shower goes with us every time, usually need it too! Heater unit comes in a plastic box that can be used as the water supply, d cell batteries drive the pump. _________________ It was like that when I got there! |
