I ahve a ct525 right now and am thinking of changing to the lsx 454 now that it is available. The problem is the weight. After weighing the few things that I took off of the ct525 it comes at 380 lbs. The lsx 454 as a complete deluxe package with the same things removed comes in at 540 lbs. 160lbs is quite a bit for the additional 95 hp and 120ftlbs. Any thoughts on this?
By comparision a few eights are
zz4 511lbs
502 deluxe 611lbs
572/620 deluxe 580

Mark, we will be doing a LSX 454 stretched Sport stretched 2ft in the bow and 6in. in the interior. Will be carb and distributor motor (nice HP and Torque and nice RPM range) Keep your eyes on the "in the shop thread"

What i have heard is that the general is a little low on HP and Torque #'s, Sources say that 630-650hp could be had with some tuning and right parts combo.

Kevin,,,,That boat will be cool.
Those new motors are awesome.
If I wasn't such a frugal vagina, I'd like to get a new boat.

You know this motor has 12 to 1 compression. You might get sick of buying C-12 for a sunday cruise.

Nope it has 11:1 same as my ct525. I run the timing at 28 deg and 91 octane and no issues.

Yes 11:1 on the LSX and 10.7:1 on the CT525.

Ya no kidding, I should be shot Laughing

Although I like the s374w engine my setup my setup is already for the ls series. Ford missed it by that much. Don't worry I still a dream of building a 589 bbf with Kaase boss 429 heads and of course a supercharger. Just gotta win that small lottery.

is there a head and piston difference between the LS3 EFI and Carburated or is it just the manifolds and the cams that are different ?
