At first I thought exactly the same thing but wasn't that a boat they dropped from a crane as a raffle? I heard they did that again ala Baldy's boat
Cheers

I haven't heard anything Xero, but I'm guessing you're right since the cage is already out of the boat. I wouldn't drop my boat with the cage still in it....come to think about it, I wouldn't drop my boat at all. I'm guessing if that was an actual wreck that they would have been too busy at the hospital to pull the cage-Aluminum Squirt

Great pics Slowpoke, anymore info? I read something about a real bad flip down there???
That said I don't think those pics are of the same boat and am pretty sure one of the big name Kiwi guys did a crane drop with the boat he wrecked last year. At least I think I saw that on the NZ forum or one of the news links from it.
That looks like one bad wreck, I assume everyone was ok?
Starting to think about making the cage for my boat and these pics make me wanna think harder and longer! Anyone with do or don't tips about makin the cage?
Cheers

I think thats Mike Galvin and Andy's wreck in 2000(?), at Ennis Riffle on the upper Rogue. Hydro-Phobiq was the boats name, they got a kick off of "Galvin's Rock" at Ennis, did a forward endo, nose hit the bottom of the river. Andy got a cut lense from his face shield shattering, which healed fine later I heard, lots of bruises. It had a cage at the beginning of the wreck, double hoop I think, had a leg going forward in the center, engine switchs were overhead. Wreck was featured on "You Gotta See This" for awhile. These guys were second year and going for it, had just gotten their boat really working good, never raced again after this.
Old guy sitting on the porch in front of the store in a faded and threadbare driving suit: "Oh hey yeah, I 'member back in the ought ought race, there was this big wreck..." . People walking off, shaking their heads...

That is correct Jesse. I was Mike's Navigator the year before, glad I sat that one out, I'm about a foot taller than Andy. Much of the damage was caused when we pulled the boat out of the river and it began rolling on the bottom. We pulled it out with (2) 3/4 ton diesel pickups and a jeep setup with a winch. I've got a bunch more pictures I just need to scan them in.
If you notice, the driveline (etc) is missing, along with the input side of the pump. Must have hit way hard. I know they torn the engine down that day but I'm not sure if anything was salvagible.
