This spring i bought a zz383 for my sprint and after about 20 hours of use it broke a rod and totalled the bottom end. I called gm performance parts and they had no problem switching it out until the found out it was used in a marine application. The paperwork and even the GMPP book claim 12 months warranty for marine use. I confronted gm about it and they informed me that they are refusing any marine warranty from now on, and they have lawyers ready to persue any warranty claims against them. So i guess if anyone else has a crate motor that goes, don't tell them it was used for marine use! Shocked

That sucks!

2009 GMPP catalog quotes;

Page 54, ZZ383 • "Not intended for marine applications"
Page 352, • "Must be installed in a street legal automotive application"

Looks like GM is now enforcing the fine print.

Thats where having a good relationship with the local GM dealer helps with putting the BS story together. "only used in an automotive application driven by a little old lady to attend church....."

Nice isn't it .
Warranty issues have been an issue since there have been warranties .
It all depends on many different situations , some very hard to understand or accept .
I work for a company that started another company to avoid the responsibility of upholding a good name . It became very obvious that these were some of the issues for them to do so : warranty costs money , properly trained and licensed tradesmen cost too much money . Who cares if after time people pick up on this ,just close the doors send your unskilled labour down the road and start again under a different name .
Or as in this case operate on tax payers bailout money and still rip people off and the Government helps you . Where do you turn . When will it stop .
Only when we stand up for ourselves but that takes for everyone to be on the same page , good luck !
Truly sorry about your luck or lack thereof .
Jack
Notice I didn't use the tactics of these company's , it's your fault because.......you had the wrong oil , there was no coolant , it wasn't grounded properly and electrolosis caused it , you didn't treat your mother inlaw nicely etc .....
