Step 1. Speed home after work and hitch up boat
2. Fill boat with a barrel of petrol
3. Slide it into the Devon launch (which despite super low water levels was probably better then normal) @ 7:00pm
4. Load necessary supplies (cooler,cups,etc.)
5. Load a few friends new to the river running thing
6. Cruise and discover that river levels are worse then at the end of last October
7. Try to maintain adequate speed over three to four mile super shallow water sections (with can openers)
8. Stop and talk with kayak man after he waves me down "I wouldn't go any futher if I was you, that's a big boat!"
Step 9. Chuckle to my self, smile to my mates, and hammer down.
10. Back off throttle to avoid collision with ERC (Edmonton rowing club) and smoke huge rock- luckily only a smooth deflection.
11. Arrive @ 50st boat launch, realize it's 8:30pm and sun is gone.
12. Stop and think about rocks, gravel bars, and other misc. Near misses on previos leg... Thinking
13. Tell passengers that everything ok, we be sailing in an eagle
14. Watch remaining light disappear, and all faith from passengers as well
15. Fire up Uk high powered LED flashlight, zoom in GPS to 50ft, and proceed with steptecing
16. Make excellent time in dark, until step 17...
17. Slide eagle over 300' of gravel, luckily we had some momentum
18. Rejoice!! Eagle practicaly slide back into water, push 8' and proceed with steptecing...
19. Ahh yes, GPS guidance...
20. Notice slight glitch in refresh rate... Notice I am off course by 40'... Brace for impact...
21. Out of water, into water, out of water, into water, out of water, into water, but not enough water..
22. Reassure passengers
Steps 23 - 30ish to be continued...
Tomorrow... Maybe

anybody wanna go for a little adventure?

That was a great story. Thanks for the Sunday Chuckle..sounds like fun.
As long as you don't end up sleeping in the boat in the middle of the river you are good to go. Laughing

LOL - Great story, sounds very familiar ...

Was out last night, man that thing's down. Lowest I've run it yet. Tricky in spots, but sure alot of fun. Touch a bit here and there, but nothing major.

Just have to really keep a eye on your line in that turn east of Strawberry Creek, this spring I pretty much looked like ntjetboater's avatar in mine after "deflecting" off a big one - and that was with water flowing...

34 degrees today, I'll be out there tonight for sure ..

Later,
