| They are awesome! I've had mine for a year and it's saved many hours of pulling and prying! Great investment but pricey. I think the last one I got for a guy was around a grand. |

How does it compare to the Capstan winch? Other than it being heavier and have a higher pull rating?

I have the capstan winch with the Honda 4 stroke from Quebec. It is pricey also. With 200 ft of rope it can get a boat out of most problems. As a person gets older it is amazing how heavy a boat can get. It is very compact and wieghs in at 35 pounds.

| Wow, never heard of a Simpson's winch! Looks like a great idea! Has anyone tried one? I don't know if I'd be able to move my Nahanni though @2900 lbs dry and about 3500 lbs with 350 liters of fuel. |

you don't have to lift it, just drag it through shallow water to water deep enough to float it.
I pulled a 20 ft Kenferm that was just barely wet with very little problem. Sure beats the other options.
