Folks just wondering if this is something normal. I have a 250 opti and it vibrates somewhat and gets louder when we turn right. Riding straight or turning left is normal. I don't think it is cavitating as I can hit the throttle in a right turn with no problems.

I have the same motor and I have noticed a slight increase in vib/noies but only in deep water. |

I can tell you whats wrong and that is the steel plate around the intake(underneath ) is hitting the hull when you turn as I had a 200 opti did the same thing I removed that plate which is screw and glued on then Iground off about 1/8 to 1/4 inche all the way around especially near the front of the plate noise went away ,what is happening is under load when you turn there is movement in the intake as it is all rubber mounted and when you remove that steel plate you will see where it is hitting the Alum. (hull )

That's awesome - thanks shallowman! What did you use for glue when you replaced it (marine sealant?)?
Again thanks - I'll give it a try. |
