|
|
I installed a new A2 stainless steel impeller and new wear ring in my LEGEND PUMP
I now hear and feel a Viberation at idle. When i put on a little or any type of load the noise is gone, but I feel a slight vibration throught the hull.
Is this because the stainless is out of blance? When I had the Aluminum in, their was no vibrations at all. |

ya i have this same problem mine is an aluminum impeller, checked the bearings in the pump and the coupler u-joints they all seem good, goes away when the engine warms up and reaches propper idle speed it seems, i think it may just be ware in the splines on the yoke that connects to the pump input shaft. |

Hey Sandbar Kid
I'm not being ignorant but did you check the clearance between the impeller and the wear ring , is the wear ring installed true ? Shaft is running true and is it tight ? The stainless one is heavier than the aluminum so maybe the weight diff. is causing a vibe ?
You may have to take the impeller off again and check it for balance .
Depending on the amount of vibration , is it just the way it is and you can run it this way ?
Just a few ideas for you . Hopefully there is a good pump person going to give you even 'better info . |

Same thing with my boat.
Outlaw in Red Deer rebuilt my pump and changed from aluminium to a stainless impellor. They told me right off the start that the heavier stainless impellor would cause more low RPM vibration than the aluminium. They were right, I have a slight vib. @ idle, it then goes away when you add more RPZooms. _________________ The GENE POLICE told me to "Get out of the pool". |

Same here, when idling/warming up, vibration and noise. Here's some food for thought though, it will only do it when I first get into the river and warming up pointed upstream and won't do it the rest of the day. When in a lake it dosen't do it at all. |

pretty much any s.s impeller will make some noise at idle. It sounds bad but does not hurt anything as long as it dissapears above idle. _________________ Mark
