Does anyone out there know what is going on when I turn up the RPM's and the guage starts to flicker wildly-is this the guage or the sensor-how do I check this?

I would assume you have a electric sender on your engine which cannot be trusted. I had a similar problem and installed a 'T' where my sender come's out and ran a mech one back behind the engine so I know what the 'True' pressure is. If it is Electric, don't trust what it say's!!! |

I had the same issue with my gauge . I noticed while on the river I had a flicker on the gauge .
I have an Indmar 5.7l 310 hp . I have a port that has a tee and there is a pressure switch for the fuel pump and a sending unit for the oil press. gauge . At first I thought loose wires but that was not the case . I added a nipple and another tee so as to put a mechanical gauge on . When I ran the engine I still had a flicker on the mechanical gauge ! But wait I left the sending unit for my dash gauge installed while doing the test . I thought that maybe the diaphram in the large pot style sending unit could be making the flicker , so I removed it and tried again . No more large pulses in pressure reading .
I now have to find out where to buy another sending unit ? |
