T Dawg,
I have run a Polyurethane wear ring from Hi tec performance for 3 seasons now. 2 years of it racing FX, including the '07 worlds. Runs fine, just limits you to being able to start up out of the water. The wear ring is a hammer in fit, shouldered and can be ordered oversized, undersized, whatever you want. Duane from hi-tech is a good guy, has good credentials with horsepower making jets, and he will ship to Canuckland with no troubles.
I did have one problem though, somehow I picked up a hunk of what looked to be wireline wire, about 2' of it got into and wrapped around the impeller and shaft, came around the outside of the impeller and stuck 1 end into the wear ring, the other end did a few more rotations and took out the tail bushing! This tightened up and then stopped the wire from spinning with the impeller, now creating my one and only mobile aluminum lathe! Needless to say that aluminum impeller was thrashed and is now a conversation piece in my garage! Honed out bowl bushing meant I was now in the market for a cutlass bearing/bushing, Glad I did that, shaft and sleeve are much better to work with, no greasing to do either as it is water lubricated.
Interestingly enough, the Northgate team also picked up some wire at the same place and also chewed up his impeller! This almost firied him into the bank when everything tightened up enough to stall the engine on a corner!
I still run it, impeller is stainless all the time now! _________________ It was like that when I got there! |

I ran one the entire wc race. the pump berring wore out and ran impellor into the ware ring and there was no impellor damage or ware ring damage. Replaced berring and still won _________________ you could be my new favorite |
