I was told that there is a new 19ft lightweight tunnel (owned by Dale Ford) that has a stock zz4 in it and is blowing the doors off any 19 ft step tec. Any truth to this? I am extremely interested in knowing how this tunnel performs side by side with the lightweight step tec with the sbfx power. I know tunnels will run away from a step tec with 500 hp but what about 400 hp? _________________ Merv... |

Well you're info isn't quite complete.
Yes there IS a new 19 foot lightweight FXtunnel being rigged right now but the owner is not Dale Ford, you have personally met the owner tho haha
Dale Ford still runs Airtime II a lightweight 21 tunnel with ZZ4 power and yes was one of the fastest boats on the circuit this year.
Basically what it boils down to Merv is start saving up, a new tunnel is 13.5K cnd hehehe
Seriously I don't think Step techs will keep up with the new generation of lightweight tunnels but its anyone's guess how well this 19 platform will work. Untill the boat is in the water no one can be sure. I will say we have taken more orders for both 21's and 19's so there are others out there to gamble and others who want to stick with whats been proven(21)
Oh and with the worlds rules this year its unlikely any FX motor will be making 400 HP. Is that what your pumping out???
