Hi everyone
Could, would, anyone shed some light on the following request?
I have a 30 gal tank on the port side of my crusher and I wish to install an identical tank on the starboard side.
Question, Both of these tanks have a pickup tube.
If I connect the new tank from its own pickup to the feed line from the other tank at the engine side, will it equalize?
Or, will the engine suck air from the tank which may run empty?
Both of these tanks have a bottom drain fitting.
Should I connect the two tanks at this point?
These tanks are about four feet apart side to side.
Thanks in advance,

Most eagle boats with 2 saddle tanks are connected together on the bottom fittings, they will equalize and actually have a little head pressure on your fuel pump. Set it up this way. it will work good. _________________ Bulls Eye Enterprises Inc.

If the outlet of the two tanks is on the same height, measured from the boat bottom, the level will equalize on both tanks.
If one of the outlets is higher than the other, you will start with equalized level on the two tanks. Level will keep equalized until it reaches the higher outlet. At this point the fuel pump will start to suck air ant the engine will start failing.
If you have the two outlets very close to the bottom, you will never reach this point, as very little fuel level on the tanks will be above the outlet of either tank.
The lenght of the hose, and the position of the union of both outlets makes no difference. Only outlet height.
That's about 3 cents worth of college engineering education. (It will take like 1000 years at this pace to pay that off) _________________ Wisdom chases me, but I´m faster |
