I have a zz4 that has more then a couple of hours on it, and would like to refresh it. I was wanting to race in the upcoming worlds in 2007 in FX class and was wondering what can i do to the engine, if anything...
Example: different valves and pistons.
Question:
Can i bore it? if so how much? |

At present, it doesn't appear that there will be an SBFX class in the 2007 Worlds in Whitecourt. So, if you want to race your ZZ4, you'll have to race in the "B" class. |

Please disregard my above posting. My info was incorrect. There will be an Fx class in the 2007 Worlds. |

Race organizing committee will need to decide and get it posted / published. As per the UIM ruleset section 900-1 subparts 2 & 4:
2. International racing is open to the classes mentioned in Rule
900.15. Titles shall be given to these classes only. Other local
classes can be invited by the National Authorities and or the
organizers of River Marathon Races, if so, the classes and the
capacity of the engines must be indicated in the Advance Program.
4. An Advance Programme must be sent by the organisers of an
international River Marathon Race to other National Authorities and
to the U.I.M. Office at least 90 days before the race.
This is the rule set we use in the AWJA US series. It might help. I have only included the spec sheet for the Chevy engine!!!

Chevrolet -Roller fulcrum / tip rocker arms are NOT allowed. Stamped steel rockers only. Only motors originally equipped by their original manufacturer with roller rockers will be allowed to run them.
d. Building a FX Class Motor: See spec. sheet for your manufacturer.

Demon line of carbs is OK. The Barry Grant line of reworked Holley carbs is not.
The Demon line is a mass produced, readily available production unit. What we were/ are trying to preclude is the hand reworked specialty rebuilt carb. When the rule were originated, the Demon line was not available yet. Barry Grant was a Holley reworker.
The Holley 750 in the HP line would be a legal carb! _________________ "faster, Faster, FASTER until the thrill of speed overcomes the fear of DEATH"#163 "Tuff-n'-Nuff" |

I would be interested in any information that pertains to the fxsb class for the 2007 worlds. At this point I am planning on coming up to Canada next year to race this class. I have heard that roller rockers are ok up there where they are illegal here in the states. Any other changes? Is this still a claimer class? Thanks...... _________________ Merv... |

Merv, I have officiated over a couple of our local races up here in Canada.
We have been enforcing the stamped rockers for our races and from the people I have talked to they will be enforcing the rules as written for next years worlds. As far as fx being a claimer class I could not answer that, but if everyone is running what they are supposed to run for a engine the cash claim should almost buy you a new fresh engine. Just my 2 cents Mike. |
