				| Hello everyone I got a redline 302 in a 16' sprint it runs really strong but way to cold I did some research and installed a gate valve to slow the water down it helped big time but this time of year it still to cold of a water temp my question is if I pinch the gate valve off much more will I cause pump problems it has a at309 I run the gate valve 2/3 closed mid summer and run 180 it runs around 140 this time of year I don't know if I should restrict water flow much more any ideas or experience on this would be greatly appreciated |

Don't worry about restricting the flow into the engine. It is done on marathon boats all the time to maintain a decent block pressure, just be careful that the water outlets are not too small thus raising block pressures too high and potentially pushing a head gasket in.

Valve can be used to maintain decent temperatures, just keep an eye on the block pressure. _________________ It was like that when I got there! |

Or blowing a frost plug out. Yes lesson learned. Just get a phaze and bypass system. 16lbs in the block and thermostated for heat control. Simple system that works! _________________ When in doubt hammer down! |
