I am going to pull my 12jg out this week. Its been leaking around the stern plate but thought it might be worth it to pull the entire pump and redo suction seal too. Anything i should be looking for? Or is it straight forward?
What should i use for gasket maker?

Use Sikaflex 291 or 3M 5200 marine sealant....available at your favorite aluminum boat shop

American turbine does make a bowl that will fit the Berk 12JG. it is a little longer than the stock bowl and will need some adjustments but it works well. it's a straight forward job. i wouldn't worry about the suction sell if it's not a problem. but if your going to all that work make sure you change the Bearing in the pump.

I'm wondering about my suction seal. I bet its never been refreshed since 1986. Haha. I did have some spin out issues last fall. Already changed shaft seal and installed the billet seal tensioner thinking it was leaking. But that didnt help. I also am going to try a fresh impeller and ring just have to stop in to grab it.

Be careful when you put down the sealant if the bolt holes are blind. If you fill the holes even a little it can stop the bolt from threading and easily cause you to strip it.
