Anyone know if there's any boat launches on the smoky river between GP and Grande Cache? I see the road crosses it a couple times, as well as how much water there is and rapids etc?

Thanks

Smoky flats on the Canfor road, one at the bridge just before Grande Cache, there is some shoots between smoky flats and Grande Cache.

Oh awesome, thanks. Are the chutes upstream from where the Kakwa joins? Is there plenty of water this time of year? I'm in a 16' explorer.

Chutes are close to the kakwa from what I know. Been close but not to them, pretty good shelves to climb in spots, water levels will be low right now.

Ok. too shallow to run you figure? My boat will run pretty shallow but just a 90/65hp yamaha outboard jet. I guess I could run down from the flats, it should be less white water.

Depends on your confidence / skill level... Water is low this year, take a run and decide. You can go a fair ways before it gets to a point it's a go/no go situation...

Haha well I do get ballsier than I should. But if it's quite a ways I'd try it out. Downstream should be fine? Has all the water from kakwa and cutbank

just got back from the smoky. made it up past the kakwa, spent a week up there and on the way out the river had dropped and smacked lots of rocks. It was a mine field in places. Won't be going up that far again and wouldn't recommend it. Nice country though Wink

That doesn't surprise me. I was pin balling in there in places. Near the cutbank was terrible. How did you fair?

Well the same question was there in my mind when I heard about it first. To experience this I am going there next month. I am sure it is going to be fun.
