Looking at options to replace my 240 SJ that self destructed today.
1. Any first hand experience with rebuilt/reman?
- Found a bunch of rebuilt engines, no one is commenting on how well they are doing. Likely going this route if I can figure out why mine failed at around 450 hours as most are long blocks and need my old components to swap over. Want to make sure I'm not putting in parts that caused the current engine to go.
2. Looking at putting in a 200 but I think I need more power.
- Was quoted 8500 for a complete 200, still need more power, this will be my last option.
3. Any drop in engines other than a SJ for the SJ pump?
- Apparently no easy drop in options other than another SJ. |

Mine was rebuilt about eight years ago. Robbie C had Dan Wolfe at Extreme Machines do it. His shop is north of Sylvan Lake. 403 748 2219. My motor is a 2002 and still runs strong. |

I have a long block coming from Firefish. The options I had are: a drop in rebuild out of NJ, USA or a new in crate out of new zealand or a longblock (lots out there). My core is nfg so I will try the long block and replace the parts that could cause this one to fail to begin with. The long block is from Merc.
FYI - 4.5K for the long block FOB Innsifail. Approx 1.5 K for the replacement parts/gaskets. (oil pump, reeds, fuel pump, injector testing, etc)
Hope to be going in two weeks. |
