Hey guys I have a question about drive shafts on the CX boats. I just welded in motor mounts and set up CT525 with the super short style Spicer drive shaft, it does not have a slip yoke. But supposedly that style drive shaft is bad idea with the higher horsepower motors because it can put too much strain on your crank shaft and throw a bearing. What r you CX guys running for a drive shaft. Should I cut out my motor mounts and start over. I don't want to risk it if that's true. Tia. _________________ Im on a Boat!!! The short driveshaft is fine. The tail piece that slides onto your
Pump shaft will be you "slip" spline... You just want to make sure
The engine is not positioned too far back.. You don't want the tail piece bottomed out... U want 1/4" free play there... Or 1/4" back off the spline
From being bottomed.
What pump are u running?
Hope that helps |

Hey Boomhower, you should also mention what bolts to use on the crank adapter. I heard of a guy that had a flywheel come off at around 100mph due to improper bolts. |

Good Point SnoBall!!
You want to make sure the crankshaft adapter bolts are properly torqued!!!
And remember to lock tite any bolt that rotates!!
Also check the bolt length..
The shoulder of the bolt must not protrude past the adapter and the thread cant be too long, otherwise they will bottom against the Thrust bearing Cap and lock your motor.
The kehoe adapter has the proper bolts. |

I guess another option is to cut down the slip yoke style, i just dont know if i can get it short enough. Any experience with that? _________________ Im on a Boat!!! MotherF*cker Don't you Ever Forget! |
