Last summer I thought I had something draining the battery so I installed a battery shut off switch. (Later found out it was a bad alternator) Anyway I took the boat out a few weeks later and it seemed the gas needle was dropping way faster than it should be. So I'm thinking maybe by cutting the power to the ECM all the fuel/air management stuff has been reset and there needs to be a period of running time each time you go out for the ECM to settle in.
Does this seem logical? Or should I be looking at something else? _________________ Life is Great. It's Reality that Sucks! |

Don't know about the ECM.
But I had an alternator with a bad one-way diode that caused the same problem, the battery to run down.
So I ran the alternator wire to the off side of the master switch, but the negative to the story is that if you hit the master switch with the motor running it won't kill the engine because the electrical system is being feed buy the charging alternator.
The ignition switch and the kill tether still work, just not the master disconnect.
I replaced the Diode and hooked it back with the alternator to the battery and it works great now.
That took me a day or two to figure out. . . .
