yeaa there was a race, I have tried to post some pics but the darn things will not attach. I have not heard any results though. I understand one of the racers in an fx boat went the wrong way around elk island and has a few more new beauty marks in his boat. One of the guys lost fire in his engine just a short ways from the finish line and paddle across. That one I got to see. A blue and white tri hull with the number 177 on the back. That is all I know at this time.

Here is a start...
http://www.jetboatracing.com/phpbb/viewtopic.php?t=73
20 boats came to race!!
A-Class Winner
Paul Bagshaw / Rob Soule #277 Unpredictable
B-class winner
Duane and Gary Labrum #163 Tuff n' Nuff (nothing like blowin' your own horn ......shameless cad)
BBFX winner
Sam Heath / and his daughter is his navigator (slap me, I can't remember her name!!!)
SBFX Winner
Merv George / Zeke Leinernger (I think that is how it is spelled....first time in competition for Zeke-I think it may have got in his blood a little )
Sport Jet
Gary Weaver with his nephew navigating (slap me AGAIN, I do not recall the name)
Great race, well organized. Lots of hard work by many and the Optimist club does an excellent job of being involved. The activities surrounding the race netted them over $17000 for their programs. Over $14k handed out in purse. Lots of first race jitters and problems. Boats on the bank. Boats hitting trees. Oil on headers / Boats on fire. Holes in pistons. Rods through oil pans. Had some great racing with a few passes / near passes. Some legs had boats mere seconds apart. Challenging course. The Umpqua will eat your lunch if you are not tuned in and careful. There are some nasty rocks in the wrong places. Ran the 15 mile "long" course 6 times each day.
And as always thanks for all the rescue / safey personnel and all their hard work trying to make sure that we all get to go home. (On another personal note---THANKS! for the tow JB-it would have been a long paddle back to the ramp)
