My 175 SJ starter is stuck on. Early in the day the key switch had a dead spot when in the start postion.A couple of tries and the it would turn over. The last start the motor started but the starter stayed on. The only way I could get it to stop was disconect the battery. Now(even with the key in the off position)when I hook the battery up the starter turns over.It won't start with the key off, but it will start with the key on.Is this a bad ignition switch. |

Figured out how to disconact ignition harness at the motor.Still the starter turns over when the battery is hooked up.Power must be coming from the regulator. |

Sounds like your starter relay is stuck in the start position. |

My brothers E6 boat with a 240 SJ did the same thing last year. we traced it to the key switch on the dash...bought and installed new one and, problem solved. |
