I am brand new into the Jet Boat world. I have a custom 2012 Precision Predator 2372 12 degree bottom with a Kodiak 350 and SD-309 and originally had an A aluminum impeller I have just switched to a B cut though. I am REALLY ruff on my toys, and been running through really shallow water and jumped a few gravel bars. I didn't kill my engine at all the first time and when I bent my intake I shot LOTS of gravel through a full throttle sd-309. Had the edges sharpened then Hit chunk rock quarts at full speed and gouged the shit out of my bottom and literally ripped off my NEW intake grate sending 3 inch rocks into my impeller. I was able to knock them out and limp back to the ramp but when I pulled it apart to put in my new grate and impeller my Bowl was all chewed up and had a few nicks out of the veins. I cleaned them up as best I could reach them and bolted it back together. I took it out yesterday and it runs OK not not like it did when it was new (like 2.5 months ago). I wanted know how much can the bowl veins being chewed up effect performance? I am running about 1-2 mph less with the b than I did with the A and Its hitting top speed at 5100 rpm
Should the bowl be Sharpened? Could I have messed it up when I was using a dremal to clean up the Knicks? Thank for the advice guys.
Here is a link that shows what it looks and sounds like
