Hi all,
New to this forum and lurking for a bit. I have noticed there are a lot of users of winshield type 18' IB riverboats here, as opposed to WWWBs. As I am starting a re-power project I wanted to get some input as to its probable capabilites after its done.
Boat is 18' 12deg 5' wide bottom, delta pad, with a 2stage that will have a SBF (AL heads) producing about 330ftlbs at 31-3200rpm up to around 400ftlbs at 4500rpm. (Projected for the build )-the boat already has SBF mounts, but if I find an LS 5.3 cheap I may swap out. I am planning on adding a trim nozzle if it helps with keeping lower planning speeds at times when light, and triming for a load when heavy.
The finished product will weigh in at about 2200-2300lbs after replacing the floors and removing the foam. Question is: Will I be able to handle a payload of 2 guys, gear and 100gal of fuel with this set up. Max payload desired is ~2000lbs, and it appears that many of you make this work in the 16 to 18' range for hunts.
What have you been able to haul in your 18' boats and with what power/hull spec set ups did you achieve this?
I have gotten great info on the 2stage already, just wondered how the load hauling goes? I know it will be cramped but it will fit nicely in the smaller streams I have in mind. (Not much rocks mostly gravel and sand here in AK)
