Is a stomp grate needed for a HJ 212? Does a stomp grate restrict water intake? The boat is run on rivers 99% of the time. _________________ 21' Clear Water 383 w hj212

ABSOLUTELY!!!! JMO...If you are running rivers 99% its a definate must. All you need is a little stick or a couple rock stuck in there and your boat will start to "cavitate" and tremble... It gets worse when running big HP with the 4.0.
Some guys can get away with it if you know how to read a river well, and know when to be on and off the throttle. As for technical water and channels its a good investment.
As far as restrict the flow? Yes most models of E/z clean grates do. With the stock grate you will be a little faster, say 2-4 mph.. and a bit better out of the hole. |
