I've got a miss at idle that I cant seem to find. It's a kodiak 5.7 fuel injected. It seems to run fine except at idle. Changed the plugs. Wires look ok, seem to be connected ok. The engine only has 30 hrs on it. Could it be a bad injector? |

Type of ignition? dizzy type? cracked cap or condensation under cap. water in fuel..looking at plug wires u cant tell if bad...check resistance on each wire. if good reinstall with dielectric grease...I am leaning toward low compression in one cylinder.....cause ?????? any water in oil. if all checks out, while engine running and missing, pull one spark plug wire off at a time if engine gets worse that wire/Cylinder is good, reinstall wire...do all 8 this way until you get to a wire when you pull off no change in engine idle with miss. that cylinder, ignition wire, or plug, or coil is faulty. when doing this use a special plug wire removal tool or you will get ZAPPED! and do not test this way with open fuel source or vapors and have fire extingusher handy...if that all checks out and engine still misses do the same with injector connectors, one at a time with engine running...no change when engine running and you've removed injector connector means injector bad or injector wiring bad, or signal loss.. hope this helps....good luck and be safe...I feel I should put a disclaimer on here as well. LOL |

Is your top end rpm down ....if you have a stuck injector it should be down 1 cylinder at all rpm.
We have had some defective coils on the last batch of engines.
Is yours mefi 4...regular throttle or mefi 5 ...fly by wire |

Alex, it's regular throttle. I just changed the plug wires. Once the right bank were changed it seemed to clear up. Thanks for the help. I'll check it on the water in a bit. |
