|
|
I'm currently running an open loop cooling system w/ water running directly through an oil cooler then to the engine. Can I regulate the oil temp by metering the water flow exiting the cooler? If so, what valves and additional plumbing would I need?
I was having a hard time maintaining oil temp around or just above 220*f. Any tricks??? |

How did that 406 AMS motor run for you?
You can "T" the water line with a #8 JIC T with a female end on one end, put it right at the through hull. that will couple up the closest. then you can throttle down the water flow through the cooler with a small ball valve or put a smaller hose for the discharge water exiting the cooler. Blow the oil cooler water overboard through a small pisser.

Thanks for the info Boomhower. Explain to me a "small pisser". Can I find one at O/E?
The engine works great. Didn't really get the top end speed I was looking for but it's still faster. The hole shot, acceleration and response is where it really shined. It's a dream to handle now. Really happy with it. Going to start playing with some wedges and impellers now and see if I can get anything out of that.
Last time I seen you, you had another project you were thinking about. What's up with that? |
