I am about to get into the river boat world. I have boated my whole life but just lake boats. I don't know a whole bunch about river boats. The boat I am looking at is a 16' Outlaw Lynx w/ 240 sport jet. I was just curious what the lifetime(hrs) of the sport jets are. This has about 250hrs on it. Is that a lot? Also curious if this is a good boat to learn on?
Thanks for any advise I get.

I have a 4 year old similar boat with a 175 sportjet in it , I have 300+ hours on it and I expect to drive it for many more years with nothing more than routine maintenance , I am happy with my sportjet , good luck in your search for a boat.

glad to see you want to join the river boat world, sport jets are noisy and vibrate allot, but very lite, and awsome for shallow running, the 240 dosnt get the best economy, V8s, for the most part are allot more quiet, but if you get stuck you will find out who your friends really are. but great for cruisin.depends what you want to do . as everyone says you need two boats. good luck just my 2 cents

Hi renslip, I too run a 240 sport in my 18ft Outlaw Bobcat. Ihave had this boat since 06. It is very good in shallow water like Riverrat saidbut works good in bigger water as well. This past season I run the Fraser canyon up through Hells Gate, very cool. The noise and vibration are not really an issue for me. The fuel economy kinda sucks. I have had this boat since new with around 250 hrs on it now and its running as strong as the day I bought it. If you like the skinny stuff like I do get one of them cathead winches and you do not have to rely on friends or other boaters, sometimes there just isn't anybody around. Buy it, enjoy the hell out of it and hope to see you on the water. Cool

There known to be a 2000hr rated motor and u can add up to 500hrs to that by cutting a piece of the engine cover away to install a k and n filter, or remove the engine cover all together. Not the doghouse, just the plastic top on the engine itself. 250hr is brand ne
