Hi guys.
This might sound dumb, but I will post anyway just in case it helps out another newbie like me and save them some grief. Took the boat out yesterday to test out new carb. Ran great until I lost steering and run aground. Steering started to get a little clicky so I was trying to limp to safe spot on beach on the Red Deer when it gave out completely, wheel would just spin around clinking and clunking. Climbed under dash and found the bolts that clamp the rack together had come loose causing the pinion to just spin on the cable. Tightened up and all was good except for having to pole the boat back to deeper water. I'm going to pull bolts out of rack and add a little medium strength locktite. They must have vibrated loose after last trip in lake pounding some big waves. Hope this helps someone. Any other ideas to fix would be appreciated. Thanks |

glad it didn't cause any grief . always a good idea to check steering often . as for other stuff to keep an eye on , throttle linkage and return spring , driveline , motor mounts , belts , hoses , wiring , bilge pump etc. _________________ Rick's Precision Machine
