I'm wondering if a guy needs to take extra precaution when selecting a new cam, considering the introduction of water into the exhaust? (ie. duration, maybe even lift?).

I'm thinking about getting a ZZ383 and wanting to put more cam in it. Any of you guys out there played with cams on these engines?

I was going through the gmpp website and saw on the magazine article for the ZZ383, they put a Vortech supercharger on it. Made up to 746 hp! Wow... (the nitrous idea is definetly scrapped)

It really depends on what rpm you plan on running. The zz383 pistons are not forged and will not take a ton of rpm for very long. I wouldn't be reving much more than 5000 rpm. Unfortionataly changing the cam will usually increase you power above or below that point and not alot because the zz383 cam gets pretty decent torque out of the motor right now. With the proper cam you can expect make maybe 25 hp more max at around the 5000 mark. If your cam is making good torque a different cam will not make more torque but only move it up or down in the rpm range. The higher up the more hp but then other things start to cause issues.
