|
|
Hey guys being a SJ guy I don't really know a whole bunch about the Hammies but a friend of mine recently purchased an Outlaw 21' Muskwa with the 8.1L matched up to the 212 running a 4.0 impellar.
He is telling me that he has cavitation when he punches it out of the hole. I know he hasn't pumped much gravel through it at all, being that he has run flooded rivers and lakes only since he got it this spring.
Any ideas on what could be done to correct this? Is there different impellers out there that would solve this or is it just to much horse power for the pump?
Thanks for the help. |

When he is getting on the throttle is he just stabbing it wide open? If he just rolls into the throttle a little bit to get forward movement than stand on it it should not slip at all. That is the biggest factory pitch hamilton impeller and works great with a 8.1.
What is his max RPM at WOT?
Are you Sure it is a 4.0 look through the stone grate and you will see either 2.4, 3.4, 4.0 stamped on the impeller, all though you might have to rotate the engine over to see.
Remember you are pushing 4000 LBS through a 210 MM impeller with 400HP you will loose traction when you stand on it, it is a simple weight calculation. |

Thanks. I will check it out when I see the boat again. His RPM at WOT is approx 4200 if I remember correct.
I know what you mean about the power weight ratio. I guess he just needs to learn to ease off the hammer |
