I used google earth to check the river before we went to the North sask launch towards tomohawk and it looks like it would be a fun trip. Once I get a bit more comfortable with this thing i'd like to make that run from Devon back to Drayton.....once I install a fuel tank gauge ..lol.

I did some searching because I was sure I inquired about this before. Rapidchaser gave me a good idea of what to expect(on page 9) for distance's. We should be leaving Wednesday with over 20 people in our group.(4 boats and 4 Sea-doo's).We'll make it to DV Wed evening, fill up, then head up to see what it's like past DV.....I'll post some pics next W/E!

I made a camping trip from Rocky mtn. house to the dam at lake Abraham last summer . I have an 18ft kenferm with an Indmar 310hp 5.7l vortec 42 gal in floor tank . I took 6 five gallon cans extra with me . The boat was fully loaded as my wife likes to take a lot of stuff , anyway I had gas left when I returned to Rocky . I had two cans and some in the tank .
I was to impatient to set up camp and unload so we tried to make it to the dam loaded . Once i got to the point where there are a lot of side channels ( past the nordegg bridge )and scaring myself a few times , I turned around and made camp east of the bridge (Rocky mtn. side) I never made it to the dam as I was worried about the fuel . It's an awesome section of river with no real worries except those channels . I was lucky there were some speed style boats returning and I followed them as best I could out of the channels. Pretty hairy ride for a beginner , but Ken Larsons warning kept going through my head , Dont Let Off !
Also I forgot his warning about the water level and woke up the first morning with only about a foot of the boat in the water ! No worries though as I was not in any hurry to go anywhere and two hours later there was enough water to get going as the dam was opened .
I would like to hook up with some others as I would feel safer making trips with other boats for safety sake and it's more fun.
Have a good one .

I believe thats an A boat, get an A number that no one else has, show up for tech and registration, pay your 500 bucks, get your boat teched and go racing. I would recomend pre running the river the day before so you have fewer suprises during the race. It doesnt usually work to follow someone else, if they take a wrong channel and get in a bind so do you. I would also practise on the circuit to learn how your boat turns. It wouldnt hurt to do a few up river starts and down river starts, so you dont look like an idiot on the starting line. Dont forget your stop watch and your stupid whistle. Like anyones gonna hear a whistle underwater, if i was trapped under the boat the last thing im gonna be doing is blowing a stupid whistle. Dont forget your seat belt cutter. I dont know if its a rule here this year or not but you might need a 100 feet of 3/8 rope with a bouy on the end in case you sink. Trust me its a good idea even if its not a rule. Ill give you a hand, im the boat ramp nazi this year, will also be doing teching.

www.prba.ca has the complete set of rules for all the classes along with a few other websites, start there and make sure you go through the whole list

Whoaaa! Hooligan, Here is how i think Baldy got himself into racing, if i recall some older post's from the man, He worked in a kitchen and washed vegetables overseas and has wealthy friends that care about him and want to see him happy Laughing

I have been searching the classifieds since that post and can't find a veggie washin job that will get me into a FODGE pick-up and an Eagle tunnel, He must have some serious connections!

Kevo,
I resemble that remark. Shocked Shocked It was good to know a couple of guys that were into boats.
I talked to Jeff the other night. He's mighty happy with the way his boat runs and I'd be disappointed if he don't show up racing next year.
We need to start another thread for the Hooligins racing career!
