Just purchased a used Lynx 16'

I was told it was a 2004.

Been looking for the SIN# and Year. On my old Sport it was under the dash.

On the back of the boat above the pump it is engraved Lynx 06. Does this stand for the year of the boat 2006 ?

There should be a SN somewhere on the boat, likely on a small plate riveted to the hull. Unfortunately over the years they have been put in a variety of locations so its hard to suggest where to look. It should not be that hard to find however.

This is what the plates look like currently:

(FYI this sample would be a 2008 depicted by the last 2 digits and the hull number is 204)

I had an 04 lynx, there was no plate, but the SN was welded into the bottom of the hull next to the engine, you could see it when you lifted the motor cover. Numbers and digits were made by hand, if you know what I mean.

Typically the number on the stringer near the intake and/or under the engine is not the entire serial number, only the 3 digit hull number. At least that's how its done now

your sportjet should have a build date on the motor;also you could check with a mercury dealer for the in service date with the motor /pump serial #;lynx 06 could be the sixth boat in the production run of lynx models ...
