I have been home and harvest is underway, would like to be back up north.
I have been pondering during the drive home and the rest of the week on how to say Thank You to all of the wonderful people I met in the last couple of weeks and make sure they know how I feel and not leave anyone out. I can start by saying THANK YOU to all 14 million Canadians, I may have that number off by a few, but you know what I mean.
I will start with the bald man and the terrific party he had out at his humble digs. A great time was had by all and I even hit the can barrel by 10:30.
The three boat clubs in each town getting together and hosting probably one of the most succesful world marathons of all time.
The race committee headed up by the Wonderful Mr Grouch(I did hear that, without the wonderful) Brian McGregor. I thought this race was ran as well and better than a lot of races I have participated in. On time and safety where needed. A great big thanks to the whole crew.
The new people I met because of this race, the crews from New Zealand, Mexico, Austraila and of course the special people from Canada.
Got to see Doc in action and he remembers where, a pretty good pitcher with the loonie. Go Doc Go...and one hell of a driver besides.
Hugster and Dingo crews, really made me feel at home, great people.
I got to meet the best racers and people from the participating countries, I tried to explain to my daughter what wonderful people I had met. She said" Dad, God made a lot of good people". I then asked her how he got them all in one curling arena in White Court, Alberta.
Thanks to James, a great guy and a perfect naviguesser. He made me a better driver. I think he will make a very good driver in the near future. A warning to his navigator, cut the wires on the communication system. Thanks James you pulled us thru..
Richard and Elaine, I can't possably say enough about the two of you, terrific racers but more important, beautiful parents and people. You introduced me to my new friend, Daryl, that my friends, was the highlight of my journey. Such a good kid, I will keep in contact with him and encourage him on, if he needs to talk have him call me. I will always be there for him. We lost our son a year ago this month and you will never know how much Daryl did for this old man. He does not replace Charlie but he gives me another buddy I can watch grow into an adult and discover all we go through as "supposedly" adults.
Thanks Richard and Elaine, God Bless.
Carrie Crawford, Thanks for being a friend, Canada is lucky to have people like you. Hope to see you down here next year. I am going to volunteer to help Tim and Ryan on the worlds next year and it is going to be hard to duplicate what Alberta has done this year.
I will say good bye for now, thank you Canada.
Gary Weaver,
Baby Bud
