Whats a reasonable top speed for a ZZ4 powered 16 foot sport with delta bottom. Reliability is fairly important.

Have an A impeller. The bottom ain't new but no large craters. I need to put a wear ring in but if I'm not mistaken that shouldn't impair top speed much. Place diverter.

I'm not really interested in spinning the engine at 5000 + rpm. It currently spins up to 4500.

Any input appreciated.

If it's like the 16' Sport that Rob had sold Frank a few years back, you'll have a good boat. I would suspect that you'll be looking at high 50's, low 60's, depending on nozzle trim and weight on board. When are you hitting the water with the boat. Give us a call and we'll show ya around.

I raced that exact setup for one year, (95 15 1/2 Eagle sprint) best top gps speed was 72 dwn, 68 up. Ran a off-the-crate ZZ4, full A in a Legend, place diverter with 3 1/8th nozzle, 4 degree wedge. It turned 4500-4600 depending on weather. I weigh 220, my navigator about 120. By the way, the last four feet of the delta pad needs be dead nuts flat to get the best out of them. Loved that little boat!

She may be little but I sure am having a good time with it. I didn't try for any more speed yet. But with close to 500 lbs of human and full tanks I was getting 65mph. And the bottom has seen a little abuse. No craters just some river bottom lovin.

Priced out a vortech supercharger, Complete with carb box is about 3G. Should make for some mph gains I would think.

I have a 15.5 foot eagle sprint with a ZZ4, demon carb and headers with a Berkley pump slightly wedged and I'm gps at an average of 71 mph in a 5 mph river current. I tested up and down 67 mph up and 75 mph down. very good engine.

I weigh 180 and my girl weighs 2 Gerry cans less. we're turning 4500 rpms no race nozzle. It's pretty much a brand new boat since I got it off of Clayton Tice. Clayton and Vinny did some serious work to that little girl. I love it! It handles like a dream. She still can do a 180 degree turn at 75mph in about 3 seconds and get up on step in about 2.5.
