richard,brian,dale,hal,gil,willy and every one else just wondering if this new ford motor is reasonably priced and readily available if there could be an ammendment to the allowable engines allowed in cx class since this motor was specificly built to compete against the ct525 and is factory sealed |

hey Will, there is very little info out on this engine; but here is a mix of what I have researched and some of my personal speculation;
- this engine (the 374) was only just shown to the public at the recent PRI show in Orlando on December 10th.
- my guess is that it's close to being the proto-type. Ford racing may have started production of them for the 2010 season, but no dealers have them, and even Ford Racing does not have any details.
- another concern is, will enough of the circuit associations sanction it? Then will for Ford keep going with its production. They have a history (not as bad as Dodge) of discontinuing engines.
- I have not seen any official spec sheets on the S374W, supposedly it makes 530 HP & 470 ft.lbs.tq. (literature also says "target" HP)??? The C392RT which we have sanctioned for the CX class makes 475 HP & 495 ft.lbs.tq. The 374 has better HP but... is it usable at the pump rpm's we run. The 392 with its higher torque may be a better engine.
- the 374 is likely to be pricy. Just guessing this, but the Ford propaganda is bragging up how its made with "real race parts" this time. haha
- the 374 is based on the Boss 351 block with the Z304P heads running 11:0:1 compression. So pump gas might be an issue
So...lots of unknowns. But if the 374 was "readily available" and "reasonably priced" and "similar in power" then yes the Western Zone would likely be open to discussing.
I'm pessimistic on seeing this engine in the 2010 CX class, only because Ford Racing has lots to get done in the next few months, if someone is going to be able to get their hands on one and get it into a race boat by June. |

its supposed to be available to the public in january, but after watching the dyno session on it i think ill be sticking with the 392 as the 374's 540 horse power is made closer to 7000rpm...;a little much for what we put these motors through and i think the 392 with a 950 or 1050 will be right up there with the ct525's impressive dyno results so i think im going to go ahead and order the 392 after christmas and have it sent to gp for some dyno running.Merry christmas all!!! www.youtube.com/watch?v=1bqo1TyTCHQ |

just checked messages and i can get this motor(374) for $8495 and its available now.im not on the forum much now do to being in camp so im not ignoring anyone just limited access to internet.but if this engine is considered after some thought i'd like to run it just to see how it fairs against the ct525 and with it being factory sealed as well as the ct525 it eliminates any suspisions against one or the other!isnt the ct525 also 11-1compression so avgas would work great and is fairly deciently priced last summer i was getting it for 350 a drum!so....Dale,Brian,Richard,Gil,Glen,Robbie,Willy and whomever else if its possible......!anyways if you would let me know if yeah or nay so i can order the 374 or the 392asap oh and is the world meeting the 16th of jan?till then take care...Willy Ruttle

Okay somebody has to bring this up, the CT525 Is sealed, okay are you guys going to run them this way, or what. What does CT stand for, would that be circle track, what happens when you turn right ? _________________ HANG ON NUTLICKER !! |

Yes T stands for circle track and yes they should be run as a swealed unit. When you turn turn right with a ct 525 I usually go right also. That seems to happen with most things that I drive . I have not seen any issues yet with turning right. _________________ Mark

Will, the meeting is scheduled to be next Wednesday, the 13th. But...hold on it is yet to be confirmed that everyone can make the trip to Vallview. Brian is calling people today. Stay tuned.
FYI, Personally I would vote to allow the 374 in the 2010 CX series. |
