You don't close a public body of water due to acts of a few individuals who are already breaking a different law. I'm sure you aren't justifying it but that type of argument needs to be pointed out for its absurdity and that's exactly what we need to start doing to cut the logic of this ban to pieces. Transport Canada did NOT meet their own guidelines for how they should have proceeded on this but at this stage legal action is the only way that will be fixed. Its painfully clear from our interactions with them they pushed this through for purely political reasons.
There is discussion ongoing down here about how to proceed and rest assured I personally don't intend to let this go without a fight.
Anyone willing to offer time and resources to this action please let me know. More will be announced shortly but this is probably going to turn into one of the most important battles for the future of recreational boating in Canada in history.
The first thing that needs to change is the lack of people discussing it, just because its not in your backyard doesn't minimize the implications to boaters everywhere.
This needs to be fought politically, legally, and financially. This is one of the largest rivers in the country and indeed even North America so if they can get away with it here little rivers stand no chance _________________ T-53 , why go up and down when you wanna go round and round???? |
