We'll be starting a build thread of a very unique project. A customer came to us with very specific needs for a riverboat that's a bit of a departure from our standard line. We're excited to exploit the advantages of aluminum boat construction and not being conformed by a mold to build exactly what this client wants.
He's asked we name the boat "Taku" and with reasoning like this we can hardly argue. In his words;
"The “Taku” is a magnificent river that originates in NWBC and flows into the pacific at Juneau (you have to put in at Skagway or Rupert, or go down the Stikine to Wrangell and then north…). It will be one of my 1st trips with this vessel…"
This will be a dynamic process and we're still working closely with the client on all the little features that will make this "his" boat.
I can give you some basics that have been nailed down already and they are enough for us to get the basic hull underway. More custom features to be sorted out as we get closer to a finished hull.
Outlaw Taku
27 feet
102" beam
7' 8 degree bottom
32" side height
twin 383's w/ Hamilton pumps
12" walk around platform
36" swim grid
rear helm
hardtops - lower and upper
forward enclosed cabin
Stay tuned we'll be following this boat from drawings all the way through fabrication. As you can already see it has some very unique features
Cheers

I apologize for the delay in pictures. The last few weeks have been very busy with production, some changes in our fabrication shop and of course getting ready for open house.
The owner of the Taku was down and was thrilled to see it moving swiftly through the initial stages of fabrication. In fact its been moving so fast its been hard for me to get over enough to get pictures.
In any case here are a few and there are a few more I need to track down on another camera. This is a BIG Muskwa
haha
Cheers

Let me back up a bit to how this process started.
The customer had very specific needs and requests for this boat and had obviously spent a good deal of time on the water and thinking about what his ideal boat would entail.
Numerous discussions and scratch pad sessions led to a set of criteria and drawings of the basic hull layout. Since then we've been in regular contact making adjustments and fine tuning the design to meet the customers needs. This has been and still is a very dynamic process. I only hope in the end this extra effort means we have a very happy customer with a boat that fits as closely as possible to his initial vision. Its certainly alot of work but I think everyone involved in the process is happy with progress so far.
here are some pics of the initial stages:

While we certainly have a ton of fabrication shots of this boat its been pretty hard keeping up with the pace to post them. The boat itself as Jason is aware has occupied alot of people's time but none the less we have some exciting shots I can post here. The boat in sunlight!

Hey Xero;
That is one great looking piece of ingenuity and definitely a work of art,
which is to be expected from Outlaw Eagle Mfg.
It looks to me that this vessel will be restricted to some (if not all), deep
Water.
Looks like she is gonna be extremely heavy to say the least.
If you get that baby stuck, flower seeds might be a good addition to an emergency kit or one shiete load of money??
Looking forward to seeing the completed version.
Cheers,
Emery

The boat has gone thru prerigging and doesn't look much different but the paint process is beginning so we will be seeing dramatic changes over the next few weeks. The trailer, which itself should be quite dramatic, is due anytime now. I'll try my best to keep everyone updated
Cheers
