Looking for advice on roll cage mounting in a sportjet hull. I'd like to see what has worked for others or if anyone has pics and what they liked or disliked about the method used. I'm trying to decide if thru-hull is required or if bolting to a welded in plate would be better.
Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

I know the guys at RLS Marine at the Lewiston, ID facility

put a roll bar in the SJ that Gary Weaver ran last year. They may have some photos or advice or tips.......
Give them a call----

The 15' sport we built last year has mounts welded to the inside of the hull. then the role-cage is bolted to that with 2 bolts in each spot I believe, I don't have any pics of it right now that I can find of that hull.

Here is what I built, just finished the final welding (tig) today. Used 1 & 5/8th OD x 0.083 WT Chrome Moly tube. Used thru hull bolted mounts, 2 bolts per pad. Main hoop looks high in the boat, but when sitting it provides 4" over the helmet clearance which I think is the UIM recommendation.
Total weight is 48lbs.
Weather is 10c so took some outside pic's.

Looks like you have done a nice job! Only thing I can see that might make it better is some "X" type bracing. "High" in the hoop from one corner (formed where your cross tube intersects the up tube of the main hoop) to a point on the opposite "up" part of the main hoop just below where it makes the bend. Adds support and strength in case of any kind of roll maneuver and will help keep the upper main hoop from laying over.

I took some measurements today and the only problem I saw was there was no interior space for the rearward bracing. Both of your boats have seemed to tackle that problem. Thanks for the pictures.

You don't really let that thing sit out side do you ? That PINK cage needs some help !
I've got a couple partial cans of Krylon I'll send you tomorrow.
I can hear the neighbors now.

Here are some pics of the mounting that we used in the sport jet. This was the best i could come up with for you.

I like the brackets on edge. Their length to disperse the load and easy to fasten. This is what I've got sketched up so far. I just need to make sure the cross bracing clears helmets etc. Let me know what you think.

Can you provide a better sketch, something to scale would be nice, it looks a little primitive to me
LOL
Nice work man that looks really sweet. That 3D model is coming in handy now!
Where does the camera mount to?
Cheers

I put the rear hoop vertical. Should make it a little easier to get in & out.
Midwest, the sprint link was good info.
