Hi , I have an outlaw two 30 gallon side gunnel tanks. The fill is on top of the gunnel and is a basic screw type filler. The tanks vent through a transom vent. There is a 5/8 hose runs from the tank vent about 6 feet to the transom vent. This hose although tucked up under the gunnel lip is about 4-5 inches above the tank running horizontally to it.
I have a constant fuel smell all the time when parked and it is not good to sleep in the boat. Hot days it pours out the transom vents. I have a bow tank also and it does not vent so bad and I believe that the difference is the front tank has a steep incline from the tank to the vent.
My question is that instead of venting with the long hoses to the transom would one of the Perko style fill necks that vent back through the filler and overflow gas goes back in the tank work for me. I have attached an article can everyone give me their thoughts. I can't get the link to work but here is the address
thanks
