Trying to plan a trip to run these rivers. Can anyone pass some info on about them.
We want to go up the Tuchodi to the lakes. How far of a run is this from where you put in. Any info/tips would be great.

As my memory serves me, I think it is about 110 miles from the boat launch at Kledo Creek at mile 335 on the Alaska Highway, Muskwa is no problem Tuchodi is a different story, if you go earlier than the big rush of hunters mid august-october, the water is good, watch out for rocks, awesome scenery, good fishing right after the ice goes out, pack some silicone and rags |

Hi, it is approx4.5 hours from Kledo to the lakes. July is generally the best month to go up as there is a lot of water then and is nice. This year should be a ton of water though. It is only the last hour that is tricky as it splits into a huge delta with lots of different channels. When lots of water no prob though. If you take the wrong channel just turn around. That time of year though you shouldn't bump anything. October that is another story!!!! Drop me anote if you need more advice or direction or what ever |

Thanks for the info. I'm running a 2005 16ft Outlaw Lynx, 8 degree hull
240 SJ, Tuchodi special.
We are thinking about the July long weekend.
I'll have to pack some extra fuel. _________________ 19' Hammerhead. |

Very much worth the trip though beautiful scenery and lots of critters. |

Hi Guys, I've been lurking around this site for some time now, and since I have found my name mentioned (In this Post), I figured I would finally join up and contribute what I can. It's a great Site, lots of info.
T-REX, there will be tons of water for the long weekend in July, there almost always is (the tough parts like the Can Opener, and Boulder Alley will be well under water, and any of the Splits below the first lake should be runnable). As mentioned, 100 gal of gas should be plenty, depending on how much running around you do. Make sure you run up to the Second Lake, it's worth it (halfway between the lakes is a good fishing creek). Kokanee Can Blue and white are good Lure colors for the Lakers.
Grizzly has already posted a link to some of my vid clips, what did you think? The "Summer on the Tuchodi" clip was taken in July, the others were taken in mid Sept.
I run an Ell-Dee Custom 18' with a 175 SJ right now, and depending on the load, it takes me between 20-25 gals to get to the lake.

Gatho is a creek/small river that runs into the Muskwa approx 40 minutes up from where the TUchodi dumps into the Muskwa. There used to be a forestry campsite there not sure what is left of it. With lots of water and lots of balls you can run the Gatho |

What Grizzly said,
I have not run the Gatho in the last few yrs, it's fun but it can be costly Forestry campsite is still there, but not in very good shape. There was very little water in the Gatho last yr, but with all the snow, it might be better this yr
Myself and a few others have made plans to go to the Tuchodi lakes for the second weekend in July, probably head up on the 12th or so, the fishing is pretty good then.
Arthur II, if you are looking for a camcorder with a helmet cam, check out a Samsung Model SC-X210L. |
