Anyone know why my 350 Kodiak sputters after running for about 30 minutes straight? It loses about 300 rpm, comes back...drops..comes back and sometimes just quits. I changed the fuel, fuel lines, fuel filter and inline fuel filter. Still does it. Only when running for a period of time.

Probably something related to a carburetor or intake manifold gasket not closing well enough when the temperature is high.

If you can't impress them with your knowledge, confuse them with your Bull$#?¡?

I've seen that problem before when running off of dual tanks at the same time.

One tank doesn't have much gas in it and the hose from that tank sucks air in rough water or in turns and the motor will act like it's out of gas and sometimes just stalls.

What caused the problem was that one fuel line was about three feet longer than the other and it always drained the short hosed tank first.
I've also seen the same thing happen when the fuel pick-up in the top of the tank broke off. Rolling Eyes

The guy that had the pickup problem used up a Blower Motor on two different occasions before he found the problem. Embarassed Embarassed

Now I remember old VW's had the problem of the fuel pump getting too hot and not working properly. The symptoms were pretty much the same you describe. You can try using a new pump.

Thanks for all the tips.
The Marathon has the single tank under the rear seat, with a single suction line. I hope its not a Carb issue, I screwed around with that on my last boat. Does fuel get 'too hot'?? What about vapor-locking?
I know if it cools down or sits for 10 minutes it runs good again.
Thanks again.

Have you got an insulator between the carb and the manifold ?

If it's an air gap manifold you wouldn't need one except for performance.

The old, old Fords use to run a spacer between the 4 barrel carb and manifold that had water running threw it to cure the vapor lock problem !

You might have a bad coil. If the coil is bad, engine runs fine when cool, not good when hot.

H2O in gas tank????Any evidence of water in the fuel/water separator???

Dump out contents of fuel/water separator into a pail and look for evidence of H2O.

If no water I would check the electrical conductivity at the interface between the exhaust header diaphragm and the stainless steel muffler bearing. Could be causing a spark interrupt.
