Decided to check out impeller and pump on my boat and discovered that even tho when I picked it up I gave it half a dozen shots of grease into tail bushing the shaft has some wear. I remember when I gave it grease it was getting hard to pump so I figured must be full but when I tried with pump apart turns out there was something blocking it. It needs new bushings seals but my question is had anyone ran there pump with tail end of shaft with noticeable wear on it? I was thinking of rebuilding it filling full of grease and running till the winter. It's on a 309 pump |

I ran mine the rest of the season after noticing the same sort of wear, not sure how bad yours is...but mine just had a couple decent grooves. Almost like something got in there. In the winter I pulled it, replaced it with a new one and had the old one rebuilt. Now it sits on my shelf in the garage as a spare...too bad I sold the boat and have a Hammy now. |
