A little more progress, got the bilge blower vent cover made. window welded up, just have to hinge and latch the centre window. get the proper radius for the glass rubber and cut the holes. Almost paint time. An old friend stopped by and made a comment on the fact that I seldom waste much aluminum on the nose of my boats.

That's pretty cool. You definitely got some talent! What color are you going with?

by the look of the last pic it looks like a step tec, or shallow tunnel, am I correct ? what degree is the bottom?

It has a 16 degree with diminishing radius keel, three steps inside each tunnel that also deminish front to back. Like I had said earlier I wish I had seen a step tech before building this as I may have done things differently. I did say it will make a very nice flower garden for the wife if it does not work as planned. Of course it would not be difficult to weld over the tunnels either.
Motor will be back from the machine shop next week, I have a couple grab handles to weld on and then paint. I was going to make the handles bolt on but welds don't come loose. Glass mounted outside the frames so it will not push through. And more converntional seating this time as this one is going up for sale. Or at least that is what the wife thinks. She is on the war path as I have started cutting out number three already.

transplant begins

had to build some new mufflers, fenders for the trailer, guide pipes etc. now to lift the engine out for final work and service then back in for the last time. wire harness and dash and it is off to the river

Glass, a couple more wires hooked up and then it is swimming lessons

finally gave it some swimming lessons this morning, boat goes exactly the same speed as the first boat I pulled the power and pump out of. runs a little wet and get minor spray out the sides. I would think with step tunnels if it was truly running on the centre section of the bottom it would be dry out the sides. going to shim the nozzle and see if I can air out the boat a bit better. then play with the nozzle size and impellor to get a bit more rpm. was hoping to get over 100 kph but did the same 94 kph the little boat did. as for handling, wow, the thing turns like it is on rails. sits flat and if you grab a big handfull of wheel at top speed you are out of the boat or on the floor. no sign of crow hop or porpose. had to beleive the 18 degree with tunnles out turns 24 degree with 3 strakes per side. So a few minor mods to play with and back to the water this evening for test two. I will put new batteries in the camera and get some photo's next time.

So with the water starting to drip and the ice starting to melt it is time to get the first boat back on the water. sticking a small diesel in it for an experiment to see how it works.

I find your projects very interesting and this last post about dropping in a small diesel is of interest to me.

What type of small diesel are you using and where did you source it from?

Love to hear details of how your oil burner comes together and its performance on the water.
