Hypothetically then, is there any real advantage to running the "A" Agressor instead of the "AA" Berkeley?

In other words, does the Aggressor design really convert engine power to thrust more efficiently than the others, or is it all just a sizing name game?

OK so now Im a little confused about the cut I'll most likely want.
Currently running an AA stock Berk(which is trashed from my skinny water adventures) Im set on SS as the way to go especially if I end up racing which I would like to eventually.
Im sitting at about 5K now with the AA and would prefer to pick up my rpms to around 5500 so would an A agressor still be too big? Im assuming an A Berk is about right for what I want to do. Im running a 460 BBF which I assume is making close to 500 HP at the moment and would likely benefit from winding out a bit more
Thoughts???
Also what the deal with shouldered wear rings etc etc??

The owner of Hi-Tech Performance responded to a similar question in another forum as follows:

Talk to Roger Kehoe, the clements is a really good impellor for a family boat, they are darn near indistructable, if you do do damage they are easily repaired, they also have a good hole shot, you can reach him at 1-780-466-6074,

The stepped wear ring is the new technology ! Either one works fine, just the step maybe seals up a little better with high HP.

It's pretty easy to take a non-stepped impeller and machine it to use with a stepped wear ring.

I would bet you good money you have an "A" impeller. When you take it out post a picture of it .

If its an A its been modified(which I highly doubt) cause the pump housing says A2 on the ID plate and the impeller itself has "AA" stamped right on it. I got the pump from the orig owner and he wasn't into that kind of tuning etc
Pump is still together and to be honest with this wacky weather Im putting the boat all back together to go for a run! Im not letting mother nature mess with me anymore. Buy a sled and snow melts eh? Whats she gonna do when I have BOTH toys ready to go

Was 8 and 9 thurs/fri, dropped 14 degree's Sat/Sun but looking like 5-6 tomorrow WTF!?

Now I am waffling again between a "AA" and "A" (or equivalent).
I am told the larger impeller will increase low end performance, reduce top speed, and be easier on the engine.
Anybody want to chime in on how much MPH will be lost? I don't care if it is 1-3 mph. Any other downside to the larger size? I guess it could always be cut down if it didn't work right.

There all the same price, start with the bigger one then cut it down if you want. Note that different brands might have different pitches.

If you aren't there or personally know those guys, good luck.
If you ever go to a SDBA or NJBA Race you'll see that those guys put a diaper on there boats so a competitor or anyone else can't see their set-up. I guess you don't know for sure. Rolling Eyes

Do alum jet boats have kilo runs and speed records? Do the racers tell what kind of impeller they run?

The guys I know that Drag Race use Aggressor impellers and hold several records.
I'm not trying to say everybody uses them!
And the statement in the beginning was that, any impeller will work fine in a ski boat. Just the harder the metal the longer it lasts. As for pitch, it depends on the motor combination.

As for alum boat records, your guess is as good as mine. Probably better. Eh !

I have a 17 ft sport, deltapad, when I bought it, it had a LT1 eng with an alum B cut impellor, I had to fix the leading edge constantly after a few shallow spots! I changed to a clement AA,using a gps and stop watch before and after the same day, picked up 1/2 mph top end,and 1 1/2 seconds in approx 500 ft. It dropped my max rpm by 400 rpm , with the alum B if I had 4 rocks in the grate it was noticable, with the AA it would take 15 to feel the same, I have about 300 hours on it and never touched it, still pulls like a tractor, I rebuilt my eng to 383 specs and it seems to be the right combo for me, have a friend with the similar combo, cut his impellor back, and wishes he hadn't, go for the clement aa you wont be sorry
