Has anyone run the red deer at drumheller, is there a boat launch near town. I was looking at taking a little run which way is a better direction to go? Any info would be great.

I've run from Finnegan Ferry upriver to Drum. It's about an hour. The river is slow and getting shallow again. Sand bars are showing up again. I talked with some canoers and they said there were spots with only 6" of water. It's really silty so you can't see bottom down here. The boat launch at finnegan is not bad, but you have to drive about10- 20 miles of gravel to get there. Hope this helps.

There is a launch up river at the ferry crossing, pavement all the way, about 20 min from town, the water levels are usually pretty good from here to Drum, but your boating down stream. I'll try to post a picture later on.

I've only boated about 35 km down river from the suspension bridge, I don't really like boating down river in case a person has boat problems, and there are no public launches anywhere out there. Last year I boated between Drum and Red Deer Sept long weekend, the water was pretty skinny in a lot of spots, & alot of Can Openers to manuver. I here the Walley fishing is good in the fall way down river of Drumheller, probably down were the other guy put in.

It's gettin' stinkin' low down here at Emmerson bridge on hwy 36 and further down at Steveville bridge on hwy 876. Lot's of skinny water. The river bottom is very silty and changes with the flow. The deep channels seem to move. Sand bars are popping up in different spots. I think the closest boat launch downstream from Drum is at Finnegan Ferry. Probably 60-70 km's. Dinosaur park has one at Patricia. I don't know how that one is maintained. That would probably be another hour from Finnegan. The river is the lowest I've seen it so far this year.
