Any know who to talk to about getting an existing boat launch fixed.
I missed my window of oportunity to fix the one on Hwy 947. Forestry told me (when it was too late) that I could fix launch as long as I did not touch the water. The water level was low enough to fix, but buy the time I finnaly got aproval, water level had risen too much to do anything with it. That was the only time in my life that I wished water levels were low.
Funny hey!!!
Any guidance would be helpfull. _________________ The GENE POLICE told me to "Get out of the pool". |

Isn't it interesting that you can have a boat launch that sucks big time and to launch you have to cause all sorts of environmental damage evertime but if you want to fix it it becomes the crime of the century.
Here at Rocky Mountain House we lost our river boat launch due to new bridge constuction. So now we are forced to use the side of the river that the floaters use. Shallow water, big sharp rocks, no place to tie up to and the fact that you have to back your truck [200 feet] before you get to the water, then angle up stream. This means that on every launch and retrieval diferentials and brakes are submerged. 4x4 is needed all the time.
Just try and make an improvement to a launch and the dick head from AE is all over you. My question is how does that protect the environment?
We ended up with months of hassels and still no useable boat launch. This is further complicated by the fact that TransAlta owns the land where we have the very useable launch complete with cement pads. AE forced TransAlta to block access to this site. On this site trucks stay dry an only the trailer goes into the water. That means no diffy oil or brake dust or spinning of tires.
A good deal for all.
What we wanted is a boat launch that was safe, usable, environmentally friendly and avialble to jetboats that would minimize the conflicts with the floaters and be also used by the fire dept, SAR and F&W. For that we got nothing but hassels from AE. We have letters of support from Fish and Wildlfe, Search and rescue, and the Chamber of Commerce.
Big Government and big corporations[TA] are the problem.
My advise do it but don't get caught with the hoe bucket in the water and all will be fine. When you are done all will thank you and SRD will have have plausable denabillity. Sunday mornings are a good time. Not Thursdays!!!! _________________ You are not lost if you Don't care where you are |
