Rumour has it that there may be some wildlife sensative issues along the Red Deer River west of Penhold. If so; could this mean that the river boating and boat launching be shut down at the Penhold launch? [/b]

From what I have seen in the short time I have been on the Red Deer, if anything, nothing should change for the sport boaters/leisure, the majority from what we have witnessed takes thier garbage etc back to the dock with them. We have picked up around 80-100 cans/bottles etc along with other interesting garbage left for disposal floating in the water and on the shore by the long weekend tubers.
I hate to be this broad with the people tubing and I am sure some of them take thier garbage with them but on the whole I believe a very small percentage of them have a extra float designated to thier all day drink and food containers.
If they are shutting down any area/s due to enviromental/wildlife issues it should be the "right groups for the right reasons". I am sure we are not the only ones who have witnessed this or cleaned up after them....... I hope it is just a rumor.
