Interesting that the CT525 has an MSRP lower than the 376/515.
Any thoughts on why |

I was also confused by that and even had them double check their #'s, but they still couldn't explain it. At one time both engines were the same price in the USA, now Pace Performance has the CT525 (still a good deal with a better pan and balancer) at about $200 more than the 515hp version. _________________ It's always the Navigators fault! |

not starting anything here but was talking with a gentleman that works tech support for a gmperformance guy that was involved directly in the development of this motor and says they have dyno tunned the ct525 to more than 600hp without touching absolutley nothing in the motor.im not going to say how as i may have to run one to be competitive but its well within the rules!just puttin it out there!go ahead call my bluff i'll bet your boat on it!yeah i know im a die hard ford guy which is why im so happy that the 392 is allowed for next year so going to try it but if its not in there with the ct525 ill probabley run a ct525 the next year at least you gave us ford guys a chance to run it and thats all i was lookin for!all in all just want to race and enjoy it!after all the worst day jetboating is still better than the best day at work right?! |

Willy,
Can't start anything with me as I don't have a manufacturer bias for engines. But I am passionate about growing this CX class. So here's my thoughts.
I agree, it's possible that a ct525 can get dyno results of 600+ HP.
But ...we all know that the manufacturer's dyno numbers are lower than the independent shops, and what is also true, is that when comparing shop to shop, the dyno numbers will vary considerably.
A.M.S. has a reputation of their H.P. numbers being "generally lower" than their competitions, based on the same motor. Doesn't stroke many ego's to have that reputation, but if they are not inflating their numbers then does the much referenced 376/515 results now seem low? That's just comparing within Edmonton, not to mention the spread potential within North America!
If a ct525 crate can out power a 376/515 crate then I say it's all GMPP marketing B.S.
They are the same engines. Even if the variations on the ct525 (oil pan etc.) are better, they can be added to the 376/515 and be completely within the class rules.
So why are you jumping ship on the Ford?
..........and someone still needs to share their 392 Ford dyno numbers. |

There is very little info on the web regarding dyno & performance info other than fordracing site one. Found some stuff around about the older 392's, but next to nothing on new ford crate stuff especially the one in mention. Even on some of the latemodel forums there's very little talk. Be very interesting to see what they run outside of fords' tests, as well what that engine is capable of pulling.
Pretty cool vid of a couple of CT525's dyno pulls right from the crate here:

The difference in power between the 2 engines is because the 376/515 was dynoed with a 650 carb and the CT525 was dynoed with a 750.
I have seen identical crate engines dynoed at 2 different engine shops with over a 10% difference in power between the two, the lowest rated engine had the same power results as it was suppose to. Normal maximium power differences between identical engines is usually around 1-2%, 10+% is simply not possible. The quality of dyno results are only as good as the operator. It would be interesting to see what the Ford engine dynos at, but in order to have accurate and comparable results, both the Ford and Chev engines would have to be dynoed on the same dyno by the same experienced operator. An inexperienced dyno operator can create their own variables resulting in inaccurate and inconsistent results. _________________ It's always the Navigators fault! |

Ya I went over and talked to him for a while one day. Seems like a good guy.
Looks like there is a new Ford engine on the seen now made to competee directly with the ct525. It is the s374w http://www.nasra.com/images/stories/374%20Series%20NASRA%20Flyer.pdf Looks real good if the price is decent. _________________ Mark
