The casting on my high skew impeller was terrible, lots of bumps and divots and what looks like grinder marks. Just spent countless hours smoothing out the pressure side of the blades. Was it worth the effort and should I do both sides of the blades? |

I have seen working on the leading edge of the blades (the one on the side that goes against the wear ring) is more effective than the other.
If the impeller is aluminum and you run over 4500RPM it will show those "grinder marks". Those are caused by air bubbles that hit the impeller. _________________ Wisdom chases me, but I´m faster |

I see now that this is a Sport Jet.
Impellers in sports jets should last running at more than 5000 RPM, so nevermind the above. _________________ Wisdom chases me, but I´m faster |

WAS YOUR IMPELLER LIKE THAT FROM NEW OR HAS IT BEEN REBUILT.....THE MERCURY IMPELLERS ARE A HIGH GRADE CASTING AND THERE SHOULD NOT BE ANY GRINDER MARKS ON THE FACES OF THE IMPELLER .... |

Yes it was like that from new. Lots of bumps and holes and some small pitting. It's not to bad now after some major elbow grease !! Should the back side of the blades be smooth as well? |
