Hello,
Anybody have any experience with both impellers in a 240 SJ? I am pushing a 20' E6, so planning on updating stock impeller with one, and not sure which way to go. Thanks. |

I have not tried the Solas but I have the high skew with a steel wear ring and I am very happy. _________________ You are not lost if you Don't care where you are |

with an E-6 if you are staying away from the gravel & other water hazards I would run the normal impeller. If you like to pump gravel then go with the high skew. I've run both on an E-5 |

What is the current cost of all 3? That would help decide. I found the stock to lose its "edge" very fast even in clean water and no gravel.
where can a person find info on the Solas? _________________ You are not lost if you Don't care where you are

grizz , can't give you a performance comparision of the hi-skew to the solas , but i did rebuild a very beat-up solas that was in a 240 last fall and the blades were very thin like a pwc impeller . based on that i would stay with a mercury impeller which aren't much heavier , but more so than the solas . _________________ Rick's Precision Machine

I would not say I LIKE pumping gravel, but unfortunately I seem to do it on a regular basis I'll probably go High skew and SS wear ring w/ a 5 deg wedge for now and see how that works, then upgrade to SDM nozzle in the fall or next season. |

I have tried both in a 16 foot sport V 200 optimax I found that the high skew was better on take off Solas was much better in midrange and up to 3/4 open the the high skew was around 2 to 3 mphr faster top end and the solas ,like the fellow said is paper thin great if you stay in the lakes
my choice was the high skew and UHMW wear ring best combo going
